It’s that time of year…we’ve made it past the Christmas cookies & lights & are heading into the New Year. Chances are you are being inundated with promises of a “new year new you!” or “bikini body now” or “juice cleanse detox that will make your wildest dreams come true.” How do we sift through the noise to find the actual truth & more importantly, what IS is that we REALLY want?
For most of us the “lose 20 pounds” or “workout every day” or “only eat ‘x’ types of food” goals fall flat after a few weeks. This is why its nearly impossible to find a square foot of empty space in your local gym in January but if you’re patient by February & March its all back to normal.
What motivates us? What inspires us? And most importantly, what works?
For most of us women with a busy schedule, littles at home, a house in organized chaos & too much on our “to do” lists, our New Year’s perspective could feel a whole lot like making our lives & expectations heavier, only to have to give up our unrealistic goals after a few weeks We are marketed to by a 70 billion dollar diet industry that is constantly promising us the “new & improved solution” to finally having a body we can love, only to later discover its a gimmick or down & out lie that leaves us right where we started.
What if we could really tap into our true desires? What if instead of trying to motivate ourselves by external appearances (which usually plays into what OTHER people think of us), somehow we could tap into our own desires for what we really want? How WE want to feel?
There are no tricks to feeling your best. They are the simple things you have probably heard your whole life. Drink plenty of water (half your bodyweight in ounces, plus more if you workout), eat as many veggies & fruits as you can, eat a sufficient amount of quality protein, move your body every day, get plenty of sunshine, prioritize your sleep & manage your stress, surround yourself with friends who encourage, love & inspire you.
These are the habits that a healthy life are built on. They are not always easy, but they are simple & they are tried & true. We promise that if you choose one or two of these practices & remain consistent until they become a habit & then add another & another, you will find success in living a healthy life & ultimately becoming the best version of yourself.
Isn’t that what we truly want at the end of the day? It’s not the number inside our jeans, or on the scale, or the dogmatic diet we adopt, or the rigorous way we punish our bodies through exercise, that bring us true satisfaction or happiness. It’s knowing that we are living the life we were meant to live. A life of abundance, gratitude, service to others rooted in self love & acceptance, & personal growth.
Before you jump on to the newest diet plan, or swear to go to the gym “every day of 2019” take 15 minutes to let yourself dream about what will really fill your soul, who you want to be & how you want to feel. We are confident this can be your best year yet!
